Miracles at the last moment -8

Introduction I Samuel 1:19-20 “And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her. Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.” On the above passage we see about Hannah. The journey of Hannah was hard and troublesome. But the Lord God heard her prayer and delivered her. The Lord helped her when she came into a conclusion that nothing good can happen in her life. As part of today’s meditation let us see how the Lord God helped Hannah to become victorious. Victory over continuous struggle I Samuel 1:2 “And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.” Here we see there were two wives in the family. Peninnah had children but Hannag had no children. We can just imagine how hard it is for Hannah. It is not easy to manage things when you do not have children. The struggle of Hannah is more carnal here. She might have went through a lot in the family. But Lord allowed this waiting time on her as he was preparing something big for Hannah. We read in I Samuel 1:5-7 ‘But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb. And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb. And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.’ These passages we see the Lord God shut up Hannah’s womb for a reason. During that waiting period she was provoked. This provocation did not cease but it continued for years. Hannah was so depressed that she did not even have her food. Despite of continuous struggles, Hannah was meek. Though she wept, she knew how to keep things in control and waited patiently. The Lord God did not forsake her and wiped away her tears. Choosing Church over weeping I Samuel 1:7 “And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.” We see when Hannah was provoked when she went up to the house of the Lord. Hannah wanted to get rid of her house for a while and wanted to be in the house of the Lord. But even then she was ridiculed and bewildered by her family. But all these provocation did not stop Hannah from going to the church. She had solid hurdles in from of her but she was so determined to go to the house of the Lord. Had she given a second thought and let these shames pull her behind, she would not have been blessed with Samuel. Hannah threw all her problems aside and sought the house of the Lord. The moment she started prioritizing the house of the Lord, her problems ceased. Even in our lives, we should not let anything stop us from going to the house of the Lord. The key to all our problems is the house of the Lord. Let us start unselecting our issues and select the house of the Lord. Prayer amidst of sorrow I Samuel 1:10 “And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.” Hannah knew what is like to have an experience of bitterness of soul. Hannah prayed to the Lord God while she was facing such a situation. Satan might tell us that prayer will not do any good. But Hannah did not let Satan fool her. The prayer of Hannah gave all the answers to her that day. The answer was Samuel. This single answer from the Lord had put a full stop to all the issues that Hannah was facing in her life. Vow amidst of affliction I Samuel 1:11 “And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.” Hannah makes a vow in the house of the Lord at the right time. Despite of all the issues that she was facing, she vowed. Her afflictions did not bring her down. Hannah had an immense amount of faith on the Lord God. She believed with all her heart that the Lord Almighty will bless her with a baby. She submits herself in the presence of the Lord and confirms that she will commit her son to the presence of the Lord and no razor shall be on his head. When the Lord blessed her with Samuel, she fulfils her vow. Peace I Samuel 1:16-17 “Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.” Here we see soon after Hannah makes her supplication, she gets a divine peace. Eli asks Hannah to go in peace and he assures her that the Lord God will grant her request. Here Hannah gets an affirmation. In I Samuel 1:18 ‘And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.’ At that day, Hannah believed that all of her problems have come to an end. Her face was no more sad and she did have her food. Even before she gets an answer, she becomes normal as she believed in the word of God. The divine peace she received from the house of the Lord puts everything to normal. Therefore, even in our lives let us all throw our problems aside and believe in the name of the Lord. And our faith will deliver us. The hands of the Lord is faithful to work our miracles in any moment.

Amen.
