Perfect Peace
Perfect Peace
Isaiah 26:3 'You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.'
In the above verse we can read about the blessing of peace with two conditions. One, to remain steadfast in him. Two, in trusting him alone. When we have these two experiences,
the promise of perfect peace is fulfilled. The Hebrew word used for 'Perfect peace' is 'Shalowm'. The word 'Shalowm' refers to wealth and prosperity. Today let us meditate upon the
various places in which the Hebrew word is used and the blessings associated with it.
Perfected by Restoration
Jeremiah 33:9 'And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear
and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.'
Here we see the Hebrew word used for Perfect peace is also used in the above passage. We see Jeremiah prophecies that all the persecution that Israel faced will be changed
and a perfect blessing will come upon them. Here the Lord promises prosperity, health, return of their first love, joy and peace through his servant Jeremiah. Bible
scholars say that the word used for 'health' here represents a new body. The Lord will give his children a dvine health with a new experience. The Lord will also repair
what was broken. He restores the losses and re-builds what has fallen. The Lord changes the situation of Israelites and gives them a divine restoration. Today, let us
all examine ourselves on how our spiritual lives are found. What are the things we haev lost? What are the good things that Satan has robbed us? What are the blessings
we have lost so far ? Today, we need to make a resolutin to hold on to the Lord alone and trust him steadfast. We need to pray to the Lord almighty to overhaul our
lives and restore everything.
Perfected with Long life
Proverbs 3:1-3 'My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Let not
mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:'
The Hebrew word used for Perfect peace is also used in the above passage as the length of days. In order to receive the length of days, we must not forget the laws of
the Lord. The law refers to the commandments we received in old testament which is like the foundation. The law of the Lord will be revealed through the sermons we
hear from our church. We read in Proverbs 3:3 'Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart.' We must not
forsake the mercy and truth that we know and we have received from the Lord. We the children of the Lord not only listen to the words of the Lord but also we need to
memorie them. When we do that the word will stay inside of us and will lead us. In Isaiah 30:21 'And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way,
walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.' When we do not forget the law of the Lord, the words of the Lord will speak to us and will
guide our paths. Early in life, we might not understand why our parents and elders say certain things but later understand the truth in their words. When we take the life
of Israelites, the Lord wanted them not to do certain things and gave them commandments in the wilderness. What are the commandments which we are not following? Are we
in line with the scripture? Let us examine and submit ourselves to be perfected with long life.
Perfected and established
Isaiah 9:7 'Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with
judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.'
The above passage speaks about the throne of David which will be established by the Lord. The peace of the Lord will establish and be made perfect in our lives. The
world is an unstabled place. Whatever we see or receive is not permanent. We the children of God should believe that we have a purpose and the Lord will establish it.
The zealous Lord will stabilize our lives in this unstable world. The same Lord who established the throne of David will firmly establish the life of his children.
Amen.
