Great blessings of Abraham

 Great blessings of Abraham

Joel 2:21 'Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.'

The order of the above verse is in such way that we need to rejoice and the Lord will do great things. We the children of the Lord should have the experience of rejoicing
the Lord before we receive great things. Even if the fig tree does not bear fruit, we should rejoice in the Lord. The Lord God has called us to do great things in our
lives. When we are filled with joy the Lord will do great things. In the scripture, we can see the Lord had done many great things in the lives of holy men. As part of
today's meditation we will look into the life of Abraham and meditate on the great things in his life.

In Genesis 12:1 'Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:' We
see the Lord called Abraham to do great things in his life. Here we see the Lord asks Abraham to depart from his fathers house and did not tell him clearly on further
details. But Abraham believed the Lord and obeyed his words. The Lord called Abraham to prove him he is great. Let us meditate how the Lord chose Abrahm and did great
thingsin his life. Isaiah 51:2 'Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.'The Lord
called Abraham when he was alone and he multiplied him. Our Lord does grea things when we do not have anything in our live. This was the reason why God called Abraham
out of his fathers house.

God's great plan

Genesis 12:2 'And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:'

We see the Lord called Abraham with a plan and purpose. Abraham starts a new thing in his life by leaving his fathers house. When we submit to the plans of the Lord, the
Lord will do great things in our lives. The Lord God desires to bring a new begining through Abraham and bring God's blessed plan to man. The Lord wanted to use
Abraham to make him become a channel of blessing to everyone. Initially, when the Lord created Adam he wanted to use him as a blessing to the mankind but Lord could
not fulfill his plans. But the Lord relentlessly started to fulfill his eternal plans through Abraham. We see Abraham did not know the details of the Lord's plan that
an entire generation will be created forom him. But he had a faith on the Lord God and submits himself to the Lord. Genesis 12:3 'And I will bless them that bless thee,
and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.' Here the Lord gives a great privilege saying 'I will bless them that bless thee'.
This is the blessing that the Lord has reserved for his children. When we bless others, the Lord will bless us. Also those who bless will be blessed. The Lord has formed
the church which act as a protection and blessing to the Lord. The church is the only things which will shield us from all the anger of the Lord. The Lord will work in
such a way he will bless our neighbourhood because of us. We need to understand that the Lord will bless our entire generation through us. We also need to pray to make
us as his channel of blessing. In Genesis 49:10 'The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall
the gathering of the people be.' Abraham who started his journey as a loner, receives the blessing of descendants to become a royal generation. Even in our lives, we
may not know the plans of the Lord and we can live a life of loneliness. Do not worry, the Lord will fulfill his great plans through us and will bless our generations.
May the Lord God fulfil great plans through us.

God's great strength

Genesis 15:1 'After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.'

Here we see the Lord connects with Abraham through a vision and tells him not to be afraid. We can understand that Abraham would have experienced some fear in his journey.
In chapters 12 and 13, the Lord fulfilled his plans in the life of Abraham and he walked obediently. But in chapter 14, we can spot certain incidents took place which
might have scared Abraham. In chapter 14, we can read about the battles that happened and also the family of Lot was under captivity. But Abraham was able to deliver
the family through his servants. Post this incident, Abraham would have been scared. He would have thought to himself what if his family is also taken under captivity?
This was the reason tells Abraham 'Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward'. And Abraham took hold of the words of the Lord and he walked in
his journey. Before chapter 15, Abraham used to say Amen to all the promises of the Lord and he walked wherever the Lord asked him to go. Only on chapter 15, Abraham
started to tells his problems to the Lord. When Abraham starts to ask questions, he receives all the answers. In Genesis 15:6 'And he believed in the LORD; and he
counted it to him for righteousness.' Abraham was called in chapter 12, but only in chapter 15 we read he believed in the Lord. Even in our lives, the reason why we
are scared and full of questions is because we do not have the experience receiving the words of the Lord and his visions. When we hold on to the words of the Lord and
believe in his words, we will be strengthened. We need to believe that the Lord is able to give victory amidst of any struggles or battles. May the Lord give his great
strength.

God's great revelation

Genesis 18:17-19 'And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the
nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD,
to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.'

In the above verse, we see the Lord gives a great revelation concenring sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham began to intercede for the revelation concerning the nation. In
verse 19, he speaks about the descendants of Abraham. He gives a clear picture how he needs to raise his generation. The Lord clearly speaks on the counsels and commandments
concenring his generation. The Lord had a great plan concenring his generations and he wanted to raise them in a godly way. In Genesis 15:5 'And he brought him forth
abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.' Abraham was someone who
left his father's house. The Lord asked him come out of his house and asked him to look towards the heaven. The Lord said that his descendants would not be ordinary in
this world but would be stars. Even in our lives, parents used to scold their children and always consider them troublesome. Today, the Lord says our childrens are like
unto the stars. We need to teach the righteousness of the Lord and will request them to keep the way of the Lord. The Lord clearly gives his revelation that children
who are raised in this way will be like a star. May our descendants shine as the stars during our time and even after our days. Amen.
