God's help

II Chronicles 14:11 'And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us,

O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.'

In the above passage Asa says 'LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power'. Our Lord is a Lord who is able to help us

at any given situation. Many people might help us but they will explain how much effort they took to help us. But it is nothing for the Lord to help us. The Lord will

send his divine power and will effortlessly help us. Even in our lives, when we are given into problematic situations we can still move forward victoriously with the

help of the Lord. It is the sheer grace of the Lord that we are standing and not consumed. There are many instances in the Bible where the help of the Lord did its

work in the right time. As a part of today's meditation , we will meditate how the help of the Lord came in and did its work in different ways.

God's help will never forget you

Genesis 40:14 'But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this

house:'

Here we see the life history of Joseph. He was given into captivity and he was put behind bars. When we was in the prison, Joseph interpreting the dream of the cup bearer.

After interpreting the dream, Joseph places a request to cup bearer. In the above verse, he says 'But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I

pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh.' Joseph seeks help from the cup bearer after helping him out. We might be thinking that the cup bearer would

have helped Joseph as he received a favour from him. But we read in Genesis 40:23 'Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.' Joseph asked a very

simple thing. Even in our lives, we tend to behave like the cup bearer. We forget the goodness of the Lord. We forget to give thanks to the Lord. This incident would

have affected Joseph so much. It was a terrible situation and he would have learnt a big lesson that he should not seek the help of a man. Sometimes, the Lord might

allow people to forget us in order to receive the help of the Lord and his exaltation. We read in Genesis 41:9 'Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying,

I do remember my faults this day:' After two full years, the chief butler remembers his fault and recalls Joseph. This is the help of the Lord which came at the right

time. Bible scholars says it is good thing that Joseph released from the prison after two years. If he had been delivered earlier he would have been placed in a different

position. At the right time, the help of the Lord worked through the chief butler and brought him out of the prison. Even in our lives, we need to confess it is a good

thing that people forgot us. We need to believe if a man can remember us he can take us to a certain level, but if God remembers us he will help us to reach the highest

levels in our lives. The Lord says your waiting period will never go in vain. Your experiences where you are forgotton will not go in vain. The Lord's help will make

people remember our names and it will exalt us.

God's help strengthens you

II Chronicles 26:3-4,7 'Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Jecoliah of

Jerusalem. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did. And God helped him against the Philistines, and

against the Arabians that dwelt in Gurbaal, and the Mehunims.'

In the above passage we read about King Uzziah and a testimony concerning him. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord. And the Lord helped him. In II Chronicles

26:8 '..for he strengthened himself exceedingly.' The help of the Lord strengthened King Uzziah. Although he reigned in a very young age, the help of the Lord strengthened

him. When we walk faithfully before the Lord, he will fulfill his will and strengthens us. The Bible clearly says the King Uzziah administrate his people very well, he

built many cities and walls for his people. Bible scholars say King Uzziah discovered many weapons for defense and offense for the battles. When we have God as our help

we will be strengthened exceedingly. Further we read in II Chronicles 26:15 '...And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.' Even

in our lives, the help we will receive will be marvellously great. We read King Uzziah was marvellously helped by the Lord. The help King Uzziah received is not only

in physical form but also in many different forms. He was strengthened in wisdom, in skill and in his spiritual life. The Lord helped him by giving new wisdom to invent

new things. The Lord helped him to be skilled to win over battles. Even in our lives, the Lord will help us to give strength to overcome hurdles. The marvellous help

will bring in marvellous strength. Also, when we receive the help of the Lord and are strengthened, we should not think we do not require the help of the Lord anymore.

Looking at the miracles we receive from the Lord, we should not have feel proud about them. Our faith and trust should be increased.

God's help preserves you

Psalms 121:5,7 'The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.'

The help of the Lord is able to preserve us from all the things. In times where we are worried about our future,our job, the help of the Lord will preserve us. The help

comes from the creator of heaven and earth. A survey suggests, Psalm 121 is the frequently used Psalm before people start their journey. This was the Psalm which was

used and prayed by Missionary David Livingston before he began his journey to Africa in the year 1840. This Psalm which describes how the Lord preserves his people. The

word 'preserve' is mentioned six times in this Psalm. Even in our lives, the Lord has been protecting and leading us. He has been guarding us from all dangers without

any sleep. The Lord is watching over us and preserving us. We might sleep peacefully but the Lord will not sleep and will preserve us. In the above passage, Psalmist ives

full importance to the preserving God. When we keep our full attention to the Lord, he will preserve and protect us. Our eyes should always look upon the Lord. When we

do so, the Lord will preserve us from all evil. Amen.

God's help
