Promise message – New Year 2021
Zechariah 4:6 “... Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
This year is the year of the Holy Spirit. Truly speaking, the Holy Spirit is going to take care of us. As recorded in the verse, everything will handled by the Holy Spirit. The Lord encouraged Zerubbabel saying that everything is possible by the Holy Spirit. We see Zerubabbel carried on the divine work given to him by rebuilding the temple. When he was doing the big work, the Lord promised him to give strength, grace and glory. The Lord helped him to rebuild the temple. Just as the Lord strengthened the hands of Zerubbabel, the Lord will strengthen his children. Last year would have been troublesome but this year the Holy Spirit will make everything possible. This year when we do no lean on our strength and wealth or trust in God, the Holy Spirit grants us the grace to accomplish everything we need in our lives. Whatever things that we need to complete, we need to only lean on God and believe that we will accomplish it by the spirit of the Lord. Today, Let us meditate on four different things we receive when submit ourselves into the hands of the Holy Spirit.
Support
Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities.”
Here we see the Holy Spirit gives us a support. The Triune God who is with us will help us at all times. The Lord says, when the strength of the man falls short, the strength of the Lord will support us. When we are down with sickness, the Holy Spirit will extend his support. When Jesus was filled with agony, he shed blood sweats while praying (Hematidrosis – a condition of high stress resulting sweats of blood). In Luke 22:43 ‘And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.’ Jesus himself received a help from heaven in the garden of Gethsemane. The Lord sends an angel from heaven to strengthen Jesus. Even in our lives, when we are unable to help ourselves, we will receive a help from heaven. Let us not be worried about the hindrances, the spirit of the Lord will support us.
As recorded in Exodus 14:14 ‘The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.’ When we remain silent, the Lord God will do the rest. When we attempt to tackle our problems on our own, we tend to stop the Lord to fight for us. All we need to do is to remain silent as the Holy Ghost will do the battle for us. We read in II Corinthians 12:9 ‘And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.’ When we read the strength is made ‘Perfect’, it means it is perpetual. The support of the Holy Spirit will provide us support which will help us to move forward in our lives. It will give us strength and will heal our sickness.
We read in Romans 8:26 “..for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” In the passage, we see the spirit of the Lord intercedes for his children. Some of us might not be in a position to pray as we are flooded with problems and pains. During those hard times, the Holy Spirit makes intercessions with groanings that cannot be uttered. Just like an advocate who speaks on our behalf, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. The Holy Spirit shares our burdens by praying for us. This year the Lord almighty will intercede when the help of the man is failing in this world. The Lord will not only do the battle for us but also will pray for us.
Salvation
II Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
In the above passage, we see the Spirit of the Lord gives freedom. A liberty from all form of bondages. No bondages can keep us bound as the Holy Spirit will deliver us. Our Lord Jesus has broken all bondages on the cross of Calvary. This year no bondages can bind us to restrict us. The bondages of death does not have authority over us. The Spirit of deliverance is with us. The Spirit of the Lord gives us the experience of move forward this year. We read in II Corinthians 3:6 ‘..but the spirit giveth life.’ When the Spirit of the Lord gives us liberty, we will receive an experience of revival. The Lord revives us by delivering us from the dead works. There might be certain things we desired to do but never completed it. Today, the Spirit of the Lord breaks the bondages and will help us to complete all our desired works. The Holy Spirit will enable us to go into a higher dimensions through his deliverance of salvation.
Success
Matthew 4:1 “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.”
Matthew 4:10-11 “Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.”
Here we see the Lord Jesus was led by the Spirit to go to the wilderness. The Lord allowed certain tests on Jesus. When Satan tempted Jesus, the Holy Spirit led him and gave a complete victory. Jesus rebuked Satan and he fled from the place. Immediately, the angels appeared and ministered Jesus. We see Jesus used the word of the Lord to chide Satan by saying Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. When Jesus had these words inside his heart, he came out of the trial successfully.
Same way we read in Exodus 8:2 ‘And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.’ The Lord examined his children to know if they adhere to his commandments and the words of God. We see Adam was defeated in his temptation as he did not hold on to God’s word in his heart. Even in our lives, we the children of God should have the words of the Lord in our hearts. We read in Hebrews 2:18 ‘For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.’ Our Lord Jesus will help us to succeed trouble times. In order to succeed, we must have the words of the Lord in our hearts during temptations. The Lord Jesus knows our circumstances that we go through and he is powerful to grant us victory upon victory.
Suggestion
Luke 12:12 “For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.”
The Holy Spirit will teach and suggest his children this year. When we are facing judges or authorities, the Holy Spirit who is with us will teach us. The spirit of the Lord will teach us like a mother. As recorded in Luke 12:11 ‘take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:’ this year the Lord says, Do not worry about anything. The Holy spirit will take care of everything and will teach us. Like we use the word ‘Cool’ colloquially, we should cool down from all tensions. Last year was emotionally testing, but this year the spirit of the Lord will take care of everything. We read in Luke 12:22 ‘Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.’ This verse is said with the same connotation as ‘Do not worry about tomorrow’. When we are silent and stay in faith, we will see the divine work of the Holy Spirit being revealed. This year we should make a resolution that we should never be worried about anything. We will leave it to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
