God's Favour (Promise Message-September)
God’s Favour
Introduction:
Exodus 11:3 “And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharoah’s servants, and in the sight of the people.”
Dear beloved in Christ, the above verse is the promise verse for the month of September which gives us the blessing of God’s favour upon us. We see God’s hands was with Moses and his people and it filled them with the favour of God. What happens as a result of favour on Moses? In the later part of the verse we see Moses was considered great among the people. In other words, he was highly regarded in Egypt by Pharaoh’s officials and by the people. This is the impact of God’s favour on his servant Moses. Even in our daily walks of life, we require Favour from our superiors to carry out any work. Though that favour is necessary, we should never forget that God’s favour is predominant from all the other favours. Therefore, when we have the experience of being showered by God’s favour, everything will be a blessing. In the Bible, we can notice many incidents where God’s favour is unleashed. Today, we are going to discuss on the important incidents in the Bible which shows the favour of God to his Children.
I. Prosper
Genesis 24:12,15 “And he said O Lord God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me a good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham. And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.”
Here we see about the prayer of Eleazer to the Lord God concerning his master. He had a huge responsibility in his hands to find an elegant bride for Isaac, the son of Abraham. Eleazar prayed to the Lord to give hin success and to show kindness to his master Abraham. What happens in verse 15? We see before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. Our Lord knew the request of Eleazar, and grants his request before he could conclude his prayer. This is the result of God’s favour to his children. His favour will bless us with a prosperity in all things which pertains to us. We might have started many things and had left half way or even we might have not even started to begin our plans. Today, God is giving you a favour which is going to make everything prosper in life. Our heavenly father is going to bless us in such a way that, all our paryers will be answered before we could finish it. Therefore, beseech for the favour which commands a blessing of making things prosper in your life and stay blessed.
II. Band
Genesis 32:10 “I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.”
Over here we see about the prayer of Jacob to the Lord God. Here Jacob gets nostalgic, when he prays and he recounts all his past memories. He admits that he is unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness that God had showered on him. In his early stages, he was only left with a staff in his hands. Jacob did not have any possessions other than the staff, but now he says that he has become two bands. Band would also mean a group, which signifies being together in a group and free from isolations. God’s favour took his loneliness away and set him in a band. Even in our lives we should be like Jacob, who did not forget his past life and praised God for his blessings. We must never forget our past roots, thinking about our early stages of life makes us to count our blessings and thank our Lord. We must have started our life in a simple way, but look what God has given us today! A job, A good family, Our children, Good status and so on. We owe a lot to God and all we need to do is to praise and thank him.In this world, we might have all things but still some sort of loneliness follows. Today, God’s favour is rested on us which is going to change all our isolations and puts us in a band.
III. Grace
Genesis 39:4,21 “And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. But the Lord was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”
Under this head we see about the life of Joseph. The life of Joseph is predestined by the Lord God and his life had many plans and purposes. Despite the fact that Joseph was pushed into the dark pit by his brothers, it was purposed by God that he will be lifted up from that dark pit to be elevated to the mountain of Glory. We can clearly notice that God’s favour was with Joseph and it enabled him to receive grace from the all the people around him. The Lord almighty was with Joseph and it gave him grace and granted favour. Same way when God’s favour rests upon us it will surely fetch us the Divine grace for our lives.
IV. Very Great
Exodus 11:3 “And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharoah’s servants, and in the sight of the people.”
Over here we see about the work of God’s favour upon God’s people and his servant. God’s hand was with his people of Israel and it paved them way to exit their troublesome life in the Land of Egypt. The heavenly father breaks the bondage of his people and leads them to the Land of Milk and honey. God’s favour was not only with the people but also with his servant Moses who guided the whole crowd by God’s power. What did the favour of God do here? It gives a greatness to the Children of God. The last part of the verse says, Moses was counted as a very great person in Egypt and he was highly regarded. Today, when we pray, God’s favour is making us a very great person among the society. We might under-estimate ourselves telling that we are just a normal human being, but today God promises that he with his favour is going to bring the blessing of greatness in our life. We are going to be considered great and regarded high in the world.
V. Growth
I Peter 2:1 “Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As new-born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
What does Peter requests his people to do? He wants them to taste the favour of our God. The moment when we taste the favour of God, all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy and all slander of every kind gets wiped away. Peter asks his people to turn like new-born babies which crave pure spiritual milk, so that they may grow up in our spiritual life. It is highly mandatory that we Christians should have a perfect maturity when we move ahead in spirituality. Our God wants to be matured enough to learn many things and also to comprehend spiritual things in life. We cannot be the same as we used to be in the early stages of salvation, we need to grow to mould our attribute and character. Today, we need to pray to God to enable us to taste his favour upon us and also to give us a growth in our spiritual life. May the Lord God bless us with his favour all through this month and make us inherit all the blessings of God’s favour. Amen! God Bless You!
