God's Favour-3

 God’s Favour-3

Introduction:

Exodus 11:3 “And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharoah’s servants, and in the sight of the people.”

Dear beloved in Christ, we see God’s hands were with Moses and his people and it filled them with the favour of God. What happens as a result of favour on Moses? In the later part of the verse we see Moses was considered great among the people. In other words, he was highly regarded in Egypt by Pharaoh’s officials and by the people. This is the impact of God’s favour on his servant Moses. Even in our daily walks of lives, we require Favour from our superiors to carry out a work. Though that favour is necessary, we should never forget that God’s favour is predominant from all the other favours. Therefore, when we have the experience of being showered by God’s favour, everything will be a blessing. God’s favour is something which transforms our normal lives. Today, we are going to meditate upon all the blessings that God’s favour is going to give us in our lives.

I. Divine care

Psalm 68:9,10 “You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor.”

The last part of the above passage, we see God provides his people who are needy. This provision can also be taken as God’s divine care towards his people. We might have started our lives having nothing in our hands, but it is due to God’s immense favour that had made us reach a good position at present. Today, God’s favour sets us in a place where we are being taken care of. As we read in the above passage, God’s favour is pouring us his care which refreshes all our weariness. We need to pray to God to set us in a right place where we are given a blessing of divine care. Are we feeble in our spiritual life? Or in any other aspect of life? All we need to do is to talk to God about our weakness. If we do so, God’s favour surrounds us and blesses us with a divine care.

II. Mercy

Psalm 69:16 “Answer me, O Lord, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn unto me.”

Genesis 21:1 “Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised.”

Luke 1:24 “After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion.”

In the first verse, we see Psalmist asks for God’s mercy and his goodness of love. The next two verses talks about two characters namely, Sarah and Elizabeth. Firstly, Sarah goes through a sad lane as she was barren. She was depressed about the reproach that rested on her. Secondly, Elizabeth also was saddened by the same reproach. But what happens finally? We see God’s favour removes all the reproaches on them and showers his tender mercy. Today, God breaks down all sort of reproaches in our lives. God says, ‘I am erasing all your reproaches and giving you my tender mercy!’Joshua 5:9 ‘…Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you. So the place has been called Gilgal to this day.’ Our heavenly father had taken away all the reproaches and blesses us with a blessing of tender mercy.

III. Family

Proverbs 18:22 “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favour from the Lord.”

We see God’s favour gives us a blessing of family under this verse. It is quite simple for a person to live his life on his own way if he is single. But it takes more wisdom and God’s grace to manage if he lives as a family. We need to agree that wives play a very crucial role in a family, as they are the true hard-workers. Every woman needs to be filled with God’s favour, only then it will enable them to maintain and bring up the whole family in Christ. Today, we need to examine ourselves asking, How is our family found? How does our behaviour impact our family negatively? We ned to be happy as a family in christ. It is high time that we need to earnestly ask for God’s favour to bless us as a family.

IV. Holiness

Daniel 1:8,9 “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Now God had caused the official to show favour and sympathy to Daniel.”

Over here we see about Daniel’s determination in his spiritual life as he did not want to defile his holiness. Here God’s favour gives us the blessing of holiness. It is truly impossible to lead a life of holiness without God’s favour. We must never say that we are holy. If we are leading a holy life, it is all because of God’s favour. We need to pay all the due glory and honour to God’s name alone. More than asking all the other blessings from God, we need to ask God to bless us with this blessing of holiness.

V. Healing

Luke 7:4,5 “When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, ‘This man deserves to have you do this, because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.”

Here we see the people around Jesus Christ were pleading to convince him to show his mercy to their centurion. The people said that the centurion was worthy of getting a miracle from Jesus as he had built them a church and loves the people. It is very interesting to learn that, God listens to the people and grants them their request right away. Jesus heals the centurion as the people requested him. Normally, people say Yes to Jesus but here Jesus says Yes to the people. This is because that the centurion earned a good name as he built them a church. God will surely be pleased if we contribute towards the construction of churches on earth. Therefore, we need to pray for God’s favour to make us contribute for churches and also to give us the blessing of healing.

VI. Courage

Acts 27:24 “..Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.”

Finally here, we see the angel of God appears before Paul and gives him courage to face things that follows him. Today, God’s favour is giving us a blessing of courage. There are few things in our lives which scares us and there are times where we are afraid to move forward in some aspects in our lives. Are you afraid about your family? Job? Your children’s future? Whatever it could be, God says, ‘I am the Lord, who gives you courage. Do not be afraid.’ God’s favour is giving us courage which strengthens us to beat all odds in life. Therefore, we need to pray to God to bless us with all the above said blessings which will make our life spiritually brighter and closer to God. May God bless you. Amen!
