The miracle of Jordan
Introduction
Joshua 3:15-16 "And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest, That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho."
As we read in this passage we can see our Lord God almighty made his children pass through the river of Jordan. He made his children inherit the Promised Land. We need to believe in our Lord God that he can do mighty miracles to fulfill his promise. Today as a part of our meditation we are going to meditate upon title 'the miracle of Jordan' upon which we would learn how God will work our might miracles in our lives and fulfill his promise and purpose in our lives.
Holiness
Joshua 3:5 "And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you."
When we talk about miracles it is something not possible to be worked out by any human. But our father God does miracles for his children and he is always ready to bless his children. But in order to obtain the miracles of God, we should be holy. We should lead the life of holiness to please our Lord God. Take the case of Joshua, he led the life of holiness in order to be blessed by the hands of God. In Joshua 1:8 'This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.' We see Joshua might have meditated upon the book of law multiple times a day to have that on his mouth all the time. In Joshua 3:1 'And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.' We see here, Joshua meditates the book of law early in the morning and that's the right time where our Lord converses with Joshua about many things. This will in turn prepare Joshua to move forward in his journey with the covenant of the Lord. When we talk about the covenant of the Lord, it represents the presence of the Lord. Therefore, when the covenant of the Lord is with us, we can expect all miracles from the hands of God. But before that, we should make it a point to render all due glory and honor to him. In Joshua 3:17 'And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.' we see the covenant rested with the people till they crossed the river. This symbolizes that our Lord God will be with his people till the end. No matter how bad and worse could be our temptations are and how badly we are sailing in the rough sea, our Lord God will be with us till the end to perform his miracles for his children. In II Corinthians 7:1 'Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.' Therefore in order to acquire the blessings of God, we need to live a life of holiness and that will lead us into a new blessed way.
Word
Joshua 3:15 "And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest"
When the priest's foot touched the waters, the waters of Jordan began to divide. And there happened a big miracle for the children of God. Even in our lives, we the children of God can expect miracles that can possibly happen like what happened when the priests touched the waters of Jordan. The first point of any believe is the faith. We the children of the Lord should have the faith to expect and perform miracles by the hands of God. In Exodus 14:21 'And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.'Firstly he parted the Red sea for the people of Israel. The rod of Moses performs miracle near the Red sea and now near the river of Jordan. This miracle at the Jordan was all possible because the people believed in God's name and they did witness the mighty act of God. Even in our lives, we should also start to invest all our hopes and trust on our Lord Jesus to taste the miracles of God.
Exaltation
Joshua 3:7 "And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee."
Our Lord is a God who exalts his children. When we truly lead a life of holiness, our Lord will bless us with his exaltation. Whatever blessing that we expect in our lives, will knock our doors. Our Lord is going to give us a lift and fame in our lives. In Acts 5:13 'And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.' In this passage we see the people magnified our Lord God. Even in our lives, when we make it a point to magnify our Lord God, he will command us the blessings of Jordan. But again, we need to live a life of holiness to obtain all the blessings all sorts of blessings that we dealt in above. Therefore, as the children of God it is necessary that we lead a life of holiness and to put our trust on him so that our lives will be blessed with the mighty miracles of his.
Amen!
God bless you!
