Our Lord knows the ways of righteous-2

Introduction

Psalm 1:6 “For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

As the above verse states that the Lord knows the ways of righteous. Today, let us mediate upon how our Lord almighty knows our ways and blesses us.

I Moses- God knew him & gave him grace

Exodus 33:12-13 “And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

When we read this passage, we see our Lord called Moses by his name and gives him grace. We need to understand that it is purely because of the grace that was poured upon Moses which enabled him to lead the people of Israel in the wilderness. Our Lord knew the journey in the wilderness and that is the reason he called Moses by his name and blessed him with his grace. The glory of the Lord led the Israelites in a mighty and the Lord almighty revealed his glory in an abundant way. In Exodus 33:14-15 ‘And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.’ Here in this passage we see Moses prayed to God and the Lord grants his request immediately. Since the presence of the Lord was with Moses, it gave him all that he wanted. Those were the times where there was no laws, rules existed in that place just like the other countries. It was only the presence of God that led his people all the way. Same way, even in our lives when our lives are led by the sheer presence of God, the divine presence will answer all our prayers.

II David- God knew him & led him

I Samuel 22:5 “And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

Over here we see David was in the wilderness. Our Lord knew the ways of David and he led him. Though David faces a lot of afflictions, our Lord saves him. There was situation where David had to depart from the place, but he remains silent. He was never seem to be complaining about his state. David knew that the Lord he worships will save him no matter what. In Psalms 34:19 ‘Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.’ This verse confirms that our Lord himself will help his children when they are in danger. When David encounters a trouble in his journey, our Lord himself comes to the rescue. This we read in I Samuel 25:10.

In I Samuel 27:3 ‘And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.’ This verse clearly depicts the importance that David gives to his family. Though his life is given into circumstances at times, he makes it a point to spend some time for his family. David safeguards his family that he loved. In John 19:26-27 ‘When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother,Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.’ Even this verse reveals that Jesus emphasizes on family life at the time of crucifixion.

The struggle between David and Saul was more or less a conflict between the spirit and the flesh. Interestingly, we see Saul was not a king but he was ruling. On the other hand, David was the actual king but he did not have a throne. In I Samuel 23:26-27 ‘And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them. But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.’ This passage tell us the desperate situation of David as he was surrounded by Saul’s army. There was no way where David could get away from Saul’s hands. But later at the end of the chapter we see David escapes from that place. Our Lord himself delivers David from that situation and place was called as the Rock of escape. Our Lord literally acts like a mountain between Saul and David. Even in our lives when we are in troublesome danger, our Lord will be our rock of esacpe.

Finally in I Samuel 24:4,6-7 ‘And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD. So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.’ In this passage we see Saul was handed over to David after a long struggle that took place. Interestingly we can see David does not retaliate Saul for all that he was done to him. David refused to put his hands on Saul as Saul was an anointed man of God. The same David who smashed Goliath, does not chose violence with Saul. David chose not to be vindictive and exhibits the nature of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, we the children of God should also exhibit the nature of Christ in our lives. May the abundant grace of the almighty rest upon us and bless us as he blessed his servants Moses and David. Amen!
