Things from above
Introduction
John 3:27 “John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.”
We the children of God should understand all the blessings that we are blessed with comes from the heaven above. We might think that the blessings and belongings that we have in our lives are earned by us. But the fact is, everything that we receive in our lives are given by the Lord almighty. Today, let us all meditate the things which we receive from heaven.
I Faith
James 1:5-7 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”
In the fifth verse we read that our Lord God gives us wisdom. But in the sixth verse we see that we are blessed with his wisdom if we ask of him in faith. As the children of God, faith plays a pivotal role in our spiritual lives. When we pray to God being filled with faith, we will surely receive it. And at the same time, it is important that whatever we ask of God should be according to his will. There might be circumstances where the Satan might deceive us to ask things which are against the will of God. In such cases, we should ask for his wisdom.
In I Peter 5:10 ‘But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.’ Today, the faith of God will perfect us, stablish us, strengthen us and settle us when we are given into circumstances. If we the children of God are blessed with his faith, we can prevail all that comes against us and when our prayers are filled with faith, we will be blessed abundantly.
II Goodness
James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
The goodness that our Lord is going to bless us with is going to overflow in our lives. We need to pray every day that our Lord almighty should command all the goodness in our lives. In Romans 8:23 ‘And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.’ As recorded in this verse, our Lord God will bless us with the blessing of adoption. Also when we read in Romans 8:28 ‘
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.’ When we the children of God ask according to the purpose of God and when we obey to his commandments, we will be blessed in a mighty way. We should never forget the fact that your children are the gifts from our Lord God. We should never worry about their future as it will be taken care by our God himself. The goodness that our Lord is going to bless us with, will transform our lives.
III Divine wisdom
James 3:15-17 “This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy”
We the children of God should be wise enough to know what we ought to talk and what we ought not to. Some of the people that we come across lack in divine wisdom. The conversation of every Christian should be elegant and it should direct others to edification. Our words should not hurt others but instead it should comfort the people who are listening to us. This is the divine wisdom. This divine wisdom should also give us the attribute of being humble. Our job and our current status and position in our lives are not earned by our knowledge. It is by the gift that our Lord has given us. When we have this divine wisdom, it will enable us to handle complex situations and gives us patience.
In Proverbs 29:11 ‘A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.’ The divine wisdom of God will enable us to converse correctly. This will eventually make our lives more peaceful. Therefore, let us all pray to God that we should be blessed with the above dealt blessings from above. May the Lord almighty hear our prayers and grants our requests. Amen! God bless you!
