God’s grace towards David-3

Introduction

Isaiah 55:3 "Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David."

We see David was exalted in his life by the hands of God. Our Lord God created a divine covenant with David as he loved him. And also our Lord poured down his mercy towards David and to his generations. Today, let us meditate upon the few attributes of David that enabled him to receive the divine grace of God.

I Faithful David

I Samuel 17:50 "So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David."

When we read through the above passage, we see David was unarmed in that scenario. But he had an immense faith on the name of God that he can face the challenge. The faith that David had led him to face Goliath and brought victory to the people of God. Even in our lives, we face many satanic Goliath’s in our family, work spot and wherever we go. In order to overcome them, we need to be filled with the faith in the name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We read in I Samuel 17:11 ‘When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.’ Before David could pitch in, Saul and all the people of Israel were sore afraid hearing the words of Philistines. This is because they lacked in faith. They were bewildered to face the Philistines. Even in our lives, we have people like Philistines who scare us and they will let us not to move forward. In Deuteronomy 20:11 ‘When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.’ This verse should come into our minds whenever we are given into circumstances. In order to be empowered in faith, we should always read the Bible and listen to the word of God. But here, we see Saul lacked the faith on God and his lack led the other people into a state of defeat. Had Saul been a good leader, he would have defeated Goliath.

Interestingly, when we take David, our Lord God sends Lion and bear in order to enable David to grow in faith, and later gives him victory when he faced the giant. In Jeremiah 12:5 ‘If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?’ We need to understand that without struggle, we may not inherit any desired victory in our lives. We should also be like unto David who submitted himself to the presence of God and his firm faith in the name of the Lord fetched victory. Therefore, we the children of God should also be filled with the faith that we have on the name of our Lord God and it will strengthen us and give us victory in our lives.

II David who was used by the Lord God

I Samuel 17:40 "And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine."

Over here we see, David picked five smooth stones and he gears up to face the giant. When the Lord almighty is with David, the question of being armed or unarmed is nullified. As the Lord who we worship is able to anything for his children.

In I Corinthians 1:27-28 ‘But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are’ We see when we have our Lord God on our side, we can even expect wonders out of a grass. Whatever we have accomplished so far in our lives are all due to his sheer grace and strength that our Lord gave us. In Judges 7:16 ‘And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.’ When we read this chapter, we can understand how our Lord God gave victory to Gideon out of a pitcher. This proves that our Lord God can do mighty miracles out of anything on this earth no matter if it is a small thing. In I John 5:4 ‘For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.’ As righlty recorded in this verse, we see the faith that we have on God will enable us to overcome this world.

III Greatly blessed David

II Samuel 5:6-7 "And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither. Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David."

We see the immense faith that David had enabled him to take the stronghold of Zion. And that became his city. This was a fruitful end, as David was completely down with all that he had to do. There was no Goliath or Saul to chase him at that point of time. This proves that whatever be the situation that we are going through, if God has some purpose on us, nothing can hinder it. The plans of God will never be postponed or revoked. In Psalms 18:48 ‘He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.’ We see God chased away all demonic violence’s in David’s life and gives him a divine peace. Therefore, dear children of God we should understand the victorious blessing of David was only possible because he had a faith on the Lord God. Even in our lives, amidst of all our trials and tribulations we should never give up on the faith that we have on his name. And that is what will make a big difference and give us our desired victory. Amen!
