SUNDAY SERMONS

Glory of the Lord-II

Introduction

John 11:40 "Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"

The above passage talks about the miracle performed by our Lord Jesus Christ to his friend Lazarus. Our Lord Jesus reveals his glory. In order to reveal his divine glory, he performs his miracle. Even in our lives we should pray to witness his divine glory so that it is made manifest in our lives. When Lazarus was raised from the dead, it revealed the divine nature of Jesus Christ. Today as a part of mediation let us continue meditating on the glory of the Lord.

Situation

John 11:15 "And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him."

When we the children of God, when we believe on certain things in our lives it will be contradictory to the situation that we are going through. But our Lord almighty strengthens our faith that we have on him. Though we are given into circumstances, the glory of God will enable us to hold on to our faith. When we read in John 11: 41 'Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.' In this verse we see Jesus thanks his father soon after the stone was rolled away. This teaches us that we need to thank our Lord God in any situation. When Jesus was facing a situation, he thanked his father to obtain his glory to lift Lazarus from the dead. Same way even in our lives, we might have many dead things that are troubling us. We the children of God should never be stumbled on any situation. Whatever be the situation that we are facing, the divine glory of God will be able to rescue us.

God’s will

John 11:45 "Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him."

We see the situation that the family of Lazarus goes through was truly enigmatic. The family members does not seem to understand why this had happened to them. They failed to understand that there is a divine will of God behind the death of Lazarus. Even in our lives, we are afraid for certain things. We are filled with a constant fear that something deadly might happen to us. Though the family witnessed a death, our Lord Jesus changes the entire situation according to the will of God. We the children of God should know that all things happens according to the divine purpose of God.

plan of glory

John 12:9-10 "Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;"

Firstly we saw a situation which was changed. And secondly, the divine will of God was fulfilled. Thirdly, we see there is a plan behind the death of Lazarus. There was good crowd that was gathered near the place where Lazarus was kept. When Jesus lifted Lazarus from the death, the entire crowd witnessed the divine glory of God and that was manifested. Even in our lives, when the plan of God gets fulfilled in our lives, our Lord will enable all the people around us to witness his majesty. Therefore, we the children of God should first understand that whatever be the situation that we are going through, it is temporal. Our Lord almighty will change the situation and his will be done. Let us pray that our Lord should give us grace that we his glorious plan will be manifested in our lives. Amen.
