The Lord Almighty - Part 6 & 7
The Lord Almighty-6&7
Introduction
Genesis 17:1-2 “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.”
Over here we see that the Lord God introduces himself as an Almighty God. The Hebrew word ‘Elshaddai’ would mean the Lord almighty. In the above passage we see the Lord who is an almighty God makes a covenant to Abraham. Here our Lord promises to bless Abraham in a multiplied manner. The hands of the Lord almighty blessed the entire generation of Abraham. Even in our lives, the almighty will remove all the hindrances and bless us. We the children of God will experience the power of the almighty in our lives.
Visions
Numbers 24:4 ‘He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:’
Here we see about Balaam, the prophet. He was chosen by the hands of God. Here in this situation, he gets ready to curse the people of Israel. But the Lord had other plans on him. The almighty God opens the eyes of Balaam. The eyes of Balaam was opened so that he can see the visions of the Lord God. Even in our lives, the Lord almighty opens our eyes to inherit the blessings that he has kept for us. When the Lord opens our eyes, we will be blessed with visions. These divine visions will enable us to discern many secrets in our lives.
We read in II Kings 6:17 ‘And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.’ Over here we see Elisha prays to the Lord almighty to open the eyes of his servant. The young man would have been awestruck in that moment when his eyes were open. We read in II Kings 6:15 ‘And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?’ In this passage we see the servant was wise and truthful to his master. The servant was witnessing the hosts of army that were in front of his master. He was filled with fear witnessing the situation. We should understand that the eyes of the servant was closed. In II Kings 6:16 ‘And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.’ When the spiritual eyes of the servant was closed, he was petrified. We read in II Kings 6:17 ‘And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.’ We see the eyes of the servant was opened by Elisha’s prayer. Further in II Kings 6:23 ‘And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.’ This is how the almighty brought a fruitful end. The most fearful thing ended in peace because of the divine vision.
Even in our lives, we must never get carried away by the situation. As the children of God, we should believe that the Lord almighty will safeguard us. We read in Job 1:10 ‘
Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.’ We the children of God are surrounded by the divine hedge of the Lord almighty.
Deliver us
II Kings 6:8-10 “Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp. And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down. And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.”
The Lord almighty will deliver the children of God. There might be a lot of troubles for the children of God but the hands of the almighty will deliver them. We the children of God will witness the unbelievable things. In II Kings 6:11‘Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?’ Over here, we see the Lord God almighty puts the enemies in confusion. Such will be the victory that the Lord almighty gives to the children of God. The Lord almighty will deliver the enemies and he will put an end to all the troubles in our lives.
Changes curses into blessing
Numbers 23:8 “How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?”
Here Balaam does not know about the people of Israel. Without knowing about them, he comes to curse them. Our Lord God does not allow anyone to curse his children. Even if the children of God are being cursed, it will turn out to be a blessing. When we read in Numbers 23:7-8 ‘And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel. How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?’ Even in our lives, let us not be worried about the curses. The Lord almighty will be with us and he will change all the curses into blessings.
The partition of Israel
Deuteronomy 26:18-19 ‘And the LORD hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments; And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken.’
We the children of God are sorted as peculiar people in this world. The hands of the Lord chose and separated us from the world to live a sacred life. In Numbers 23:9 ‘For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.’ We see the Lord wants his children to lead a peculiar life when compared to others. Even in our lives, we might be surrounded by worldly people. But the Lord almighty expects us to lead a sacred life which differentiates us. In Genesis 12:1 ‘Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:’ We see the hands of the Lord differentiates the life of Abraham. Only when Abraham had his life organized, he was bestowed with blessings. The promises were fulfilled only after Abraham had his life sorted. Therefore, let us lead a life which is not carnally inclined but the one that the Lord almighty wants us to live.
He multiplied Israel
Numbers 23:10 “Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!”
The above verse signifies how the blessing of the almighty multiplies the children of God. We read in I Samuel 2:8 ‘He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.’ This verse signifies how the hands of the Lord will bless his children abundantly. Also in Job 8:7 ‘Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.’ The children of God will be blessed abundantly by the hands of the Lord. There will be a blessing of increase in our lives.
In Numbers 23:11 ‘And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.’ We see when the children of God are blessed, it was not pleasing for Balak. Even in our lives, there might be many of them that hate us when we are blessed. We the children of God will be blessed in a multiplied manner no matter what. We will lead a life that was blessed by the hands of the Lord. Amen.
