The Lord Almighty - Part 9
Introduction
Numbers 24:4 “He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:”
We see the Almighty God leads Balaam just as he led Abraham by giving him visions. The Almighty God opens the eyes of Balaam and shows him the blessings that were reserved for him. Even in our lives, the Lord is prepared to give us visions and prepare to shower his blessings upon us. Let us mediate the works of the Lord almighty in detail.
I Understanding the Lord’s desire
Numbers 24:1 “And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.”
Over here we see Balaam fully understands the desire of the Lord Almighty. And he acts accordingly. Balaam was in a position to discern what is the right thing to do and his act was pleasing in the sight of the Lord. Even in our lives, let us start understanding what was expected out of us. Let us all make it a point to know and act according to the desire of our Lord God.
II Having the Lord’s sight – A look of compassion
Numbers 24:2 “And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tentsaccording to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.”
.
We see the Lord God looks at the people of Israel with full of compassion. The way that the Lord Almighty looks at the children of Israel was same as that of a mother’s look. We read in Jonah 4:1,11 ‘But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?’ Here we see Jonah looked at the people with full of anger whereas in the eleventh verse we see the Lord looked at them with full of concern and compassion. We the children of God should also have this sort of a compassion concerning other people. We should make it a point to pray for our neighbors. When Job prayed for his brothers, the Lord changed his captivity. Job was compassionate towards them. Same way when we pray out of compassion on others, our captivities will be set free.
III Holy Spirit will begin
Numbers 24:2 “And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him”
The life of Balaam was led completely by the spirit of the Lord. The Almighty changed Balaam in such a way that he blessed the people of Israel who initially came to curse them. In Numbers 24:5‘How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!’ When Balaam began to bless the people of God, he was blessed abundantly. Even in our lives, when we bless others, we will inherit the blessings of the Lord automatically.
IV To worship what was promised
Numbers 24:6 “As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.’
Although the children of the Lord were in a bad state, the Lord had purposes on them. The Lord opens the spiritual eyes of Balaam, and he shows how the Lord Almighty is going to lead his children. The people were in the desert and lives in dry lands, but the Lord promised to bless them fruitfully. We read in Numbers 24:7 ‘He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.’ We see the Lord God promises the blessing of water in the dry land. Even in our lives, the Lord Almighty will never worry about our present state. We the children of God will witness and inherit what was promised. The Lord Almighty is going to bless us with precious things in our lives. May the presence of the Lord lead us like Balaam and let us inherit all the blessings on earth. Amen.
