Omnipotent God
Omnipotent God
Job 38:1 “Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,”
The book of Job is one of the important books in the Bible where we can see the characteristics of the Lord God. From chapters 38 to 41, we can clearly see that the Lord reveals his Omnipotence and his divine characteristics to Job. When we read the book of Job, we can see Job did not understand why certain things are happening in his life. As Job was upright in his heart and did not sin, he did not understand why he was facing bad incidents. He was confused as to why he is facing all the negative things in his life when we had not done anything wrong. We see the Lord was silent till the 37th Chapter and starts to speak to Job and answers his confusions from chapter 38. In the above passage we see that Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind from the very beginning of the 38th chapter. As a part of today’s meditation, let us discuss on how the Lord revealed his Omnipotence to Job.
Answer
Job 38:1 “Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,”
In the above passage we see the Lord God answers Job from the whirlwind. Job would have felt happier when the Lord started to speak to him and answer his questions. We see the Lord intervenes the conversation with Eliphaz in previous chapter (Job 37:24) and answers out of a whirlwind from chapter 38. The Lord did not want false accusations on Job and which is why he had to broke his silence on the right time. The Lord revealed his Omnipotence out of a whirlwind to speak for Job. His friends who accused Job without a reason where astonished witnessing the omnipotent act of the Lord. The Lord’s answer increased the fellowship of Job and strengthened his faith. Since Job did not sin and was upright, the Lord did not want any form of accusations on him. As we read in Psalm 34:22 ‘The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.’ The Lord will never allow accusations against the children of God. The Lord will renew his fellowship during these tough situations by pitching at the right time. Even in our lives, we might think there is no one to speak on our behalf or it might seem that the Lord is silent. But the Lord God will answer us at the right time and will strengthen our fellowship.
Assistance
Job 38:2 “Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?”
The Lord assists his servant Job by addressing on his behalf. It seems to be like Lord has given up his patience towards Job’s friends and remarks them. The Lord scolds them who stood against Job and accused him all these while. The Lord belittles the good for nothing counsels of his friends. He questions Job on the baseless counsels of his friends. When Job was accused by his own friends, he would have thought to himself why does he face these accusations when he did not omit any sin. Job was totally helpless and he did not how to prove that he was upright. But little did he know that the Lord was watching over him in his afflictions. Job did not ask God to help him or rescue him from his situation but the Lord helps him unasked.
As recorded in Malachi 3:16 ‘Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.’ The Lord was watching over all what was happening in the life of Job. He was actively listening to all the baseless accusations that were put on Job. At some point the Lord became very angry at his friends and answered them in a mighty way. Even in our lives, when people assume and accuse us for no reason they will eventually gather the wrath of God. The Lord will assist us and will take the correct actions to settle all their accusations at the appointed time. The Lord will plead for our cause and will help us unasked.
Arrangements
Job 38:4 “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.”
Here we see the Omnipotent God declares his magnificent creations on earth. The Lord speaks about laying foundations of the earth which signifies the majesty of his creations. We worship the Lord who is the master of creations that laid foundations on the spherical earth. The Lord’s doings are beyond human understanding. In Job 38:5 ‘Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? ’ Our omnipotent God not only laid foundations to the earth but also measured and stretched lines upon them. This signifies that the Lord has engineered the whole creation. Also he had measured the amount of trials that his children should face in their lives. He has drawn a line and a limit for all the problems that we face in our lives. Job 14:5 ‘Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;’ All the issues that we are facing in our lives will come to an end. Everything is under the control of the Omnipotent God and he will create a miracle of creation.
In Job 38:7 ‘When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?’ We see the Lord is the creator of stars in the sky and he names them. We see Lord refers stars to the generations of Abraham in Genesis 15:5 ‘And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.’ Even in our lives the Lord will give us the blessing of generations and will work out a work out a miracle. As recorded in Isaiah 54:13 ‘And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.’ The Omnipotent God will answer, assist and also will arrange a divine peace for his children. Amen.
