SUNDAY SERMONS

Call unto me

Call unto me

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

                The above verse is the most important verse we come across very often in our lives. We see the Lord himself is asking his children to call him. He confirms that he will answer us when we call upon him. In worldly practice, when we call people to help us out, they will turn deaf ears. They might not turn up to help us. According to the verse, we need to understand that our Lord is the Lord who answers our call. Today, let us meditate on the characteristics of the Lord God who answers his children.

Maker

 Jeremiah 33:2 ‘Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;

                In the above verse we see the Lord has made the earth. He has formed and created it. It is beautifully written that the answering God is someone who has formed the earth and established it.  Interestingly, when we look at the timeline of the creation we can see that Lord creates everything for the man’s survival and then he creates a man. The creator God made sure that formed an earth for a place to live in, a land to stay on, foods to survive and every other necessity before creating a man. Even in our lives, the Lord has made everything ready before we are birthed on this earth. The Lord has already supplied all our needs before we are formed. Today, the same creator God is asking his children to call unto him and he will answer.

                In Isaiah 64:4 ‘For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.  As recorded in this verse, the Lord will create new blessings for us which we have not seen or heard. All we need to do is to call upon him to witness the great and mighty things.  Our very own eyes will see the blessings that the Lord has prepared for us.

Former

Jeremiah 33:2 ‘Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;

                In the above verse we can see the Lord is not only the maker but also forms the earth. In the beginning, the earth was void and without form. During that situation, we see the Lord has put everything in order in just a span of six days. He made sure that everything was put in its right shape. We read in Romans 4:17 ‘and calleth those things which be not as though they were.’ We need to start thanking God before we witness a blessing which is a key to the door of blessings. When we call upon the Lord God, he will put everything in its form. All our broken plans and lives are put into proper shape. The Lord who forms things will put everything in its order.

Establisher

Jeremiah 33:2 ‘Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;

                We see the Lord is the Lord who establishes the earth. When we say establishment, we can establish when there is a presence of foundation and basement. Today, the Lord should lay a strong foundation in our lives to have it established. In I Corinthians 3:11 ‘For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  When we have Lord as our foundation, our lives will not be shaken. The Lord establishes our state of living condition and blesses it so that it shows a growth.  In I Samuel 2:18 ‘He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.’ As recorded in the verse, the pillars of the earth belong to the Lord God. When the Lord lifts his children, nothing shall tremble the position. The Lord who is the establisher, will be faithful enough to elevate his children to different heights.

                We read in Isaiah 28:16 ‘Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. When we believe that the Lord God has laid foundation for us, we should never make haste.

Announcer

Jeremiah 33:2  Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

                We see the Lord will announce great and mighty things in our lives. The Lord will announce all the blessings that he has prepared for his children. We read in Isaiah 45:19 ‘I declare things that are right.  The Lord who has made formed established will also announces the blessings that he has reserved in store for his children. As recorded in the Bible, the Lord will answer and he will show all the great and mighty things in our lives. Amen.
